Lara Feigel is Lecturer in Modern Literary Studies at King's College London. She is currently working on a monograph on the influence of cinema on politically committed British literature, 1930-1945, and co-editing (with John Sutherland and Natasha Spender) the journals of Stephen Spender (Faber, forthcoming). She edited the anthology A Nosegay: A Literary Journey from the Fragrant to the Fetid, which was published by Old Street Publishing in 2006. She reviews for the Observer and has published articles in the Guardian and Prospect. Alexandra Harris is Lecturer in English at the University of Liverpool. She studied history of art at the Courtauld Institute in London and then worked at Christie's. She was awarded her doctorate in English literature from the University of Oxford in 2007. She is currently writing a book about English culture in the 1930s and 1940s, investigating modernism's fascination with landscape, antiquarianism and the lure of home (Thames and Hudson, forthcoming).
